Turkana Children with Disability Organization (TUCHIWIDO) is a community-based organization in Turkana County, Kenya. We support children with disabilities, women, and youth through education, health, nutrition, livelihoods, advocacy, and environmental programs. Founded in 2018 and registered in 2020, TUCHIWIDO works to create an inclusive society where every child and family can live with dignity, opportunity, and hope.

To safeguard the rights and welfare of all children living with disabilities, vulnerable children, women, and youth through access to: Inclusive and Quality Education, Child Protection and Sports, Health, Nutrition and Water Access, Sanitation and Hygiene, Gender Inclusion, Lobby and Advocacy, Livelihoods, Environmental Conservation, and Climate Change Adaptation.
We uphold the intrinsic value of every individual, recognizing the unique worth and potential of all people—especially children with disabilities, women, and vulnerable groups. Our programs promote mutual respect and affirm the right of everyone to live with dignity and without discrimination.
Driven by empathy and care, we serve the most marginalized with heartfelt concern for their struggles and aspirations. We respond to suffering with kindness and work to restore hope through inclusive, people-centered interventions.
We are accountable to the communities we serve and the partners who support us. Through open communication, ethical practices, and responsible resource management, we ensure honesty and transparency in all our operations and engagements.

We strengthen community resilience and food security through climate-smart agriculture, livelihood support, and drought preparedness.
We foster innovation by integrating traditional knowledge with sustainable, inclusive development practices.
We promote peacebuilding and engage in policy dialogue to support conflict resolution and equitable development.
Registered and fully operational in 5 sub-counties across Turkana (Turkana Central, West, North, Loima, and Kibish)
Identified and supported over 1,280 children with disabilities in rural and hard-to-reach areas
Facilitated more than 35 multi-stakeholder dialogues involving government agencies, community leaders, and development partners
Conducted over 50 community sensitization campaigns and 10 policy advocacy events focused on disability rights, gender inclusion, and equitable development
Strengthened 70+ local community groups and engaged over 5,000 residents in civic participation, accountability forums, and inclusive planning processes
Children with Disabilities – Including those with physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments
Children Affected by Adversity – Such as those impacted by HIV/AIDS, prolonged drought, famine, displacement, or conflict
Women and Adolescent Girls – Especially those facing gender-based violence, poverty, and limited access to health and education
Pastoralist Youth – Young people from nomadic communities with limited access to livelihood opportunities and social services
Parents and Guardians of Children with Disabilities – Caregivers who need psychosocial support, economic empowerment, and inclusive parenting skills

The area is arid/semi-arid with high poverty, recurrent drought, and limited access to education and healthcare. We provide direct services through field visits, mobile clinics, and community facilitation.
